It is incredible how many people in the Sacramento area are connected to Del Norte, and oftentimes their love for Del Norte or sweet memories are connected to the pools. There are countless stories from multiple generations who remember spending their summers around the pools. There was an era of Del Norte where the outdoor pool dawned a slide and high dive. Swim practice and meets were held in what is now the indoor pool. In the 90’s, the outdoor pool became the hub for swim team, as the slide and high dive were no longer. Later, the indoor pool, once an outdoor facility, was covered and has since been an essential part of Del Norte’s aqua fitness programs.
Del Norte’s outdoor pool has been the center of so many families' lives. The 25 yard, 5 lane pool with its unique alcove areas has provided a place for fitness and entertainment for the past 65 years. Today, our outdoor pool is home of the Nor Cal League’s Gold Rush Conference Champions, the Del Norte Dolphins and the USA Swim Team, Del Norte Aquatics. For adults 18-100+ years old who still desire to swim or train competitively, the US Masters swim program runs Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 5:00-6:00am. On a weekly basis, the outdoor pool sees lap swimming, swim lessons and family fun! Outlined with the 1.5 foot depth Kiddie pool and the hot tub with deck surround, the outdoor pool facility offers something for everyone!
The indoor swimming pool, unique to Sacramento as one of the very few indoor facilities, is a multi-use pool. The most popular activity in the indoor pool is aqua fitness. With 6 different aqua classes, the pool serves many of our members. Outside aqua fitness classes, the 6 lane, 25 yard pool with a maximum depth of 4.5 feet, is the ideal setting for lap swimming, lap walking and swim lessons.
